A colour break of a Caribbean island endemic with a restricted native range. Philodendron lacerum Aurea shares the same underlying form and growth habit as Philodendron lacerum (broadly ovate, deeply incised/lobed leaves on vining climber growth), with gold-yellow sectoral variegation across the deeply lobed, scalloped-margin leaf.
Aurea colour-break cultivar of Philodendron lacerum, Caribbean (Hispaniola, Cuba, Jamaica)

Shallower, less deeply incised leaf margins
Cause: No climbing support, or a young plant yet to reach mature leaf form
Fix: Add or extend a moss pole; the ragged, deeply lobed margins become more pronounced with maturity
Root rot
Cause: Substrate that stays wet, often from a mix that's too dense or a pot with poor drainage
Fix: Repot into a chunkier mix immediately and trim away any mushy roots
Leggy growth with long gaps between leaves
Cause: Insufficient light for a naturally vigorous climber
Fix: Move to brighter indirect light and provide a support to climb
