About Aroid Atlas
Aroid Atlas is a UK price guide and plant reference for rare aroids (the family Araceae) and a few other collector houseplants. Each plant page gives the price UK buyers have paid, labelled with how well it is backed, alongside a botanical profile and care notes.
What the site covers
Plant profiles
Origin, growth habit, leaf shape and texture, mature size and care needs for each species and cultivar.
UK sale prices
Prices come from recorded sales on UK eBay in pounds. Each sale counts once and for one plant only, and colour forms are priced as plants of their own.
UK shop prices
Where UK nurseries list a plant, their asking prices are shown next to the sales and labelled as asking prices, not sales.
How to read a price
Every price carries one of these labels. Where the figures come from, which sales count and how the headline price is worked out are set out in full on how we price plants.
- Verified
- 3 or more UK eBay sales in the last 90 days for the size the price is given for.
- Limited data
- Fewer than 3 such sales in the last 90 days, or only older sales from the last 365 days. Always shown with the date of the last sale.
- Shop prices
- No UK sale in the last 365 days, but UK shops have the plant in stock. These are asking prices, seen in the last 14 days, and are never called sales.
- Estimate
- No UK sale in the last 365 days and no shop price, but an editorial estimate exists. It is always shown as a range, never as one figure, is never ranked and never triggers a price alert.
- No price yet
- No UK sale in the last 365 days, no shop price and no estimate.
What a typical UK price is
It is what UK buyers have paid recently for that plant at the size named on the page. It is not a valuation of any one plant: size, form and condition move a single plant's price a long way. Prices of propagated plants tend to fall as more stock reaches the market.
Part of the Atlas Collective
Aroid Atlas is one of the Atlas Collective, a small group of UK reference sites built the same way: prices gathered from the source, each labelled with how well it is backed. Its sibling, Airfield Atlas, does for pilots what this site does for collectors, tracking fuel prices, landing fees and PPR requirements across UK airfields. The newest, PC Atlas, prices used graphics cards, processors and other PC parts from UK sold listings.
