Anthurium regale

Few plants in this collection reach the scale of Anthurium regale: mature specimens produce enormous cordate leaves, sometimes exceeding a metre long, in deep velvety dark green with an open sinus and bold pale primary venation. Native to premontane and montane forest in Peru, it grows from a short, thick crown either terrestrially or epiphytically on mossy branches and fallen logs, in consistently moist conditions. It's among the largest velvet Anthurium species in cultivation, and a single mature leaf is genuinely enough to anchor a whole room.
