About Anthurium forgetii × crystallinum
This hybrid pairs two widely grown velvet anthuriums: from the forgetii parent it takes the nearly closed sinus (the rounded, fused base where the leaf lobes meet), and from crystallinum the fanning silvery-white venation across a velvety deep green blade. The result is a compact, self-heading plant with broad, rounded cordate leaves that read as a genuine blend rather than a compromise between the two parents. Among the intermediate velvet hybrids it's considered one of the more visually balanced crosses — most of the look of both species, without either parent's more demanding care requirements.

- Substrate
- A chunky, open aroid mix — equal parts orchid bark, perlite and coco chunk, with a smaller portion of moss or coco coir for moisture retention — mimics the loose, well-aerated leaf litter these grow in naturally. Standard potting compost alone stays too wet around the roots.
- Watering
- Water thoroughly, then let the top third of the mix dry before watering again. Velvet-leaf anthuriums are more sensitive to root rot than most houseplants, so err on the side of underwatering rather than keeping it constantly damp.
