About Epipremnum aureum 'Teruno Fanfare'
Fanfare is the most conventionally variegated of the Terunoworld pothos mutations: arrow-shaped leaves carry distinct, splashy yellow variegation in bold irregular sectors, closer in spirit to a classic marbled pothos than its texture-focused Shangri-La and Champs Élysées siblings. It combines the Terunoworld line's typically slower, more compact growth with genuinely eye-catching colour, which has made it the most sought-after of the three Teruno cultivars in this catalogue.

Before you buy
- Widely available and inexpensive; be cautious of collector-level pricing for the plain golden form
- Confirm whether the plant is trailing (small juvenile leaves) or climbing (larger, mature leaves) before buying, as the two look markedly different at a similar price
- For named variegated cultivars like 'Marble Queen' or 'N'Joy', confirm the pattern matches the specific named form rather than assuming any splashed-leaf pothos is interchangeable
- Check stem nodes are firm and undamaged; this is where roots and new growth emerge from cuttings
Epipremnum aureum 'Teruno Fanfare' care
- Substrate
- A standard peat-free houseplant compost mixed with a quarter portion of perlite provides adequate drainage. This adaptable plant tolerates most general-purpose potting mixes provided they do not become waterlogged.
- Watering
- Allow the top half of the soil to dry completely before watering thoroughly. It is highly tolerant of irregular watering, though prolonged drought will cause the older leaves to yellow and drop.
- Humidity
- Average household humidity is perfectly sufficient. While it originates in rainforest environments, it shows no negative effects from typical dry indoor air.
- Feeding
- Feed monthly during the active growing season with a standard liquid houseplant fertiliser. Growth is fast, but excessive feeding is rarely necessary given its adaptable nature.
- Repotting
- Repot every 12–18 months, or when the root mass fills the current container. Size up the pot gradually to prevent the substrate from staying wet for too long.
Common problems
Loss of yellow variegation
Cause: Extended periods in very low light conditions
Fix: Move the plant to a brighter position with indirect light to encourage new variegated growth
Yellowing lower leaves
Cause: Overwatering or prolonged drought, often combined with poor drainage
Fix: Check the soil moisture and adjust watering frequency accordingly, ensuring the pot does not sit in water
Leggy growth with long internodes
Cause: Insufficient light causing the plant to stretch
Fix: Prune back the long vines to encourage branching and move to a location with better ambient light
