Begonia sp. 'Julau' is an undescribed trade species originating from the Julau district in Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo. Circulated under the collection code U683, it inhabits shaded sandstone ravines with continuous high atmospheric moisture. The plant is identifiable by its dark bronze-black glossy leaves decorated with bright pink circular spots and red-flushed petioles. Due to its extreme sensitivity to foliar moisture and low humidity, it is cultivated almost exclusively in sealed terrarium environments.
