Anthurium 'Canal Queen'

Anthurium 'Canal Queen' combines the near-black, elongated cordate leaf of Anthurium papillilaminum with the strongly rugose, corrugated surface of Anthurium rugulosum. The result is a dark, heavily textured blade that carries more surface relief than papillilaminum alone while keeping its narrow taper toward the leaf tip. Subtle venation is mostly obscured by the rugose texture rather than standing out in contrast, giving the leaf a carved, sculptural appearance under raking light.

Native range

Horticultural hybrid bred by Jay Vannini, combining Anthurium papillilaminum with Anthurium rugulosum; named for the Panama Canal Zone, reflecting the papillilaminum parent's home range.
