About Monstera deliciosa 'Fission'
Monstera deliciosa 'Fission' is a variegated deliciosa cultivar launched (2026) by EMgarden, the Chinese wholesale nursery that also lists Devil Monster and Burle Marx Flame Mint. Its launch photos show dense marbling in two tones, lime-yellow and cream, laid over dark green, with long streaks running from the midrib to the margin and fine cream flecks scattered between them. The pale tissue covers well over half of each leaf, which puts it closer to a heavily marbled aurea than to the fine speckle of Thai Constellation. EMgarden has not published how the plant arose or whether it is being tissue-cultured, and it is not currently sold in the UK, so no UK sales exist.
Origin
No wild native range. A variegated selection of Monstera deliciosa released (2026) by EMgarden, a wholesale nursery in China, under the Chinese name 裂变龟背竹 ("fission monstera"). The base species is native from southern Mexico to Panama.

For sale in the UK
Before you buy
- Ask the seller where the plant came from. Stock traced to EMgarden or one of its wholesale buyers is the only verifiable source at this stage
- Compare the newest leaf with the launch photos: two-tone lime and cream marbling. A plain aurea or albo deliciosa relabelled as Fission is the likeliest fake while the name is new
- Check the stem as well as the leaves; variegation should run through the node you are buying
- Treat launch asking prices as a starting point. Prices for new Monstera cultivars have fallen sharply once propagated stock arrives, as they did for Devil Monster and Thai Constellation
Monstera deliciosa 'Fission' care
- Substrate
- Chunky, well-draining mix: 40% potting compost, 30% perlite, 20% orchid bark, 10% worm castings.
- Watering
- Water when the top 3–5 cm is dry. With so much pale tissue the plant uses water more slowly than a green deliciosa, so allow a little longer between waterings and check the mix before each one.
- Humidity
- 60–80%. The cream sections brown at the edges first when the air is dry.
- Feeding
- Balanced fertiliser at half strength every 2–3 weeks from spring through summer. Little or none in winter.
- Repotting
- Every 12–18 months, or when roots fill the pot. Give it a moss pole early; climbing plants produce larger, more fenestrated leaves.
Common problems
Brown, crisp patches on the cream sections
Cause: Direct sun or low humidity; pale tissue has little chlorophyll to protect it
Fix: Keep out of direct sun and raise humidity
New leaves coming in mostly green
Cause: Reversion, often after a cutting taken from a green section of stem
Fix: Cut back to the last node with good variegation on the stem so the next shoot comes from variegated tissue
Slow growth and small leaves
Cause: Heavily variegated leaves photosynthesise less than green ones
Fix: Give the brightest indirect light available and feed steadily through the growing season

How to propagate Monstera deliciosa 'Fission'
- Methods
- Stem cutting, Node cutting, Air layering. Step-by-step guide
- Difficulty
- Moderate. Rewards a consistent watering and light routine, but tolerates the occasional lapse. Suited to growers with some houseplant experience.
- Time to establish
- 4-8 months
- Notes
- Propagates like any deliciosa, from a node with an aerial root. Whether the pattern holds through cuttings is not yet known; a node sitting in a mostly green section of stem is the one most likely to produce plain green growth.
