Anthurium 'Black Magic'

Anthurium 'Black Magic' pairs two of the genus's most heavily textured velvet species. From luxurians it inherits a dense, raised, almost reptilian bullate surface; from dressleri it draws a broader cordate blade and the burgundy cast that runs through the petiole and leaf margins. The combined effect is a leaf so heavily quilted and dark that it can look near-black even in good light, with pale venation only faintly visible through the corrugation. It's a compact, self-heading plant that stays manageable in size while carrying the visual weight of both demanding parent species.

Native range

Horticultural hybrid bred by Jay Vannini, combining Anthurium luxurians with Anthurium dressleri (Rio Guanche, Panama ecotype).
