Philodendron stenolobum is an arborescent (tree-like) Philodendron native to the Atlantic forest of eastern Brazil. Unlike typical climbing or sprawling philodendrons, it grows with a thick woody stem and forms a large rosette of elongated, narrow, strap-like leaves with deeply wavy (undulated) margins. The mature leaves hang downward. It grows best in bright indirect light and is robust once established.

Leaves splitting or tearing at the margins
Cause: The long, wavy-margined leaves are physically vulnerable in tight spaces or high foot traffic
Fix: Give the plant enough clearance for its full leaf span, which can reach over a metre at maturity
Root rot
Cause: Substrate that stays wet, often from a mix that's too dense or a pot with poor drainage
Fix: Repot into a chunkier mix immediately and trim away any mushy roots
Pot tipping over
Cause: A heavy, spreading rosette of pendent leaves outgrowing a light or narrow container
Fix: Repot into a wider, heavier pot rather than trying to prop or stake the plant
