Eduardo Goncalves described Philodendron bernardopazii (2011), naming it after Brazilian art collector and Inhotim founder Bernardo Paz. It is native to the Atlantic forest biome of Espirito Santo, Brazil, where it grows as a terrestrial rosette on granitic terrain. The plant features glossy elongated heart-shaped leaves with pale primary veins and reddish petiole margins, maintaining a self-heading habit rather than climbing. It circulated among international collectors for decades under the informal trade names Santa Leopoldina and Philodendron superbum.
