Aglaonema 'Maria' is sold as a silver-green Chinese evergreen with pointed leaves, darker green markings along the veins and an upright habit to about 50 cm. Listings also use 'Maria Christina', and sellers differ on whether these are one plant. It is grouped under commutatum for navigation only. Care is easy: moderate to bright indirect light, steady warmth, and water once the top of the mix has dried.
Cultivated Chinese evergreen sold as 'Maria' or 'Maria Christina'; the RHS lists 'Maria Christina' without a resolved species.

Yellowing lower leaves
Cause: Chronically wet soil or sitting in water, which limits oxygen to the root system.
Fix: Allow the potting mix to dry out further between waterings and ensure the decorative pot has no standing water.
Faded or washed-out foliage pattern
Cause: Excessive direct sunlight bleaching the leaves.
Fix: Move the plant further from the window to provide the low to medium indirect light it prefers.
Mealybugs hiding in leaf axils
Cause: Pests sheltering in the tight spaces where the petioles meet the main cane.
Fix: Wipe affected areas with an insecticidal soap or a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol, repeating weekly until clear.
