About Anthurium 'Zara'
Zara is another Doc Block selection, distinguished by ultra-dark, near-black velvety cordate leaves held in an unusually round overall profile compared to the more elongated heart shape typical of many velvet Anthurium. The near-black surface shows minimal contrasting venation, giving each leaf a solid, almost sculptural presence rather than the intricate vein tracery seen on lighter-leaved relatives. It shares the demanding but rewarding care profile common to dark-leaved velvet hybrids: stable warmth, high humidity, and patience.

Before you buy
- Check the leaf outline is notably round rather than elongated; this rounder profile compared to most velvet-leaf Anthurium hybrids is the plant's most distinctive identifying trait
- Confirm venation is minimal and subtle; a leaf with prominent, high-contrast veining likely isn't genuine Zara and may be a different Doc Block or velvet hybrid
- Ask for a well-lit close-up photo, since the near-black surface with minimal vein contrast can look flat and uninformative in a dim or low-resolution listing image
- Given the Advanced difficulty and 65-80% humidity requirement, confirm your setup can hold stable warmth and humidity before buying
