Every other ranking on this site sorts plants by their tracked median price, a number that barely shifts from one month to the next. This one is different: it's the single real sale that sold for the most money in May 2026, out of every completed listing we tracked that month across the whole catalogue. One plant, one buyer, one real transaction.
The top spot this month: Alocasia × amazonica 'Venom' Variegated, which sold for £271 on 31 May 2026.
Sale prices above include shipping, and are matched to the specific plant and cultivar listed, not the wider genus. A high sale here reflects one buyer's specific listing (size, root state, seller reputation) rather than that plant's typical price: the Plant Atlas has its typical UK price.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the same as your price rankings?
No. Our genus rankings sort plants by their tracked median price, which changes slowly. This page tracks the single highest individual real sale recorded in one month, which can be a completely different plant each time, and says more about one specific transaction than about that plant's typical price.
Does a high sale mean that plant is generally that expensive?
Not necessarily. A single sale can be pushed up by an unusually large or mature specimen, a bidding war between two collectors, or a rare colour form of an otherwise common species. Check that plant's own page for its typical tracked range.
How often does this page update?
The current month's page updates as new sold listings are tracked throughout the month. Past months are a permanent record and don't change once the month has ended.
